Planning Services
We have redacted key information due to the sensitivity of this project and to provide anonymity to the client.
Our project management team was involved in a series of four, 60 to 80-week projects to design and build world class multidiscipline buildings. These buildings supported key operational infrastructure and were required to be resilient against failure. We provided planning services and were involved in the schemes from the initial tender process, throughout the design and construction, and managed the commissioning programmes through to handover. Due to the tight timescales and potential penalties for late delivery, it was imperative that these schemes were carefully managed and were delivered on-time.
Our services involved the development of baseline programmes; regular and real-time updating of progress; implementation of programme controls for accurate reporting; and the management of change. The works involved up to thirty separate trades and specialist contractors. We assisted the principal contractor and its procurement team in developing the most efficient programmes, and during the construction phase we chaired collaborative planning sessions to continually challenge the status quo and protect the programme against potential slippage.
It was inevitable that due to stringent programme constraints and the bespoke nature of the schemes, change would occur because of design development and unforeseen occurrences. Through strict control it was possible to identify change at an early stage, enabling the programme to be resequenced and potential delays absorbed with minimal impact. Having developed confidence in the programme and maintaining a transparent reporting process, good client relationships were retained which facilitated the commercial aspects of change being amicably agreed with relative ease.
